It’s All About The Food

If you love hummingbirds and want to attract more of them to your yard, the primary thing you have to provide them with is food. This should be done through the creation of a garden filled with nectar producing flowers (a comprehensive local list is below). If you plan to male use of feeders, the formula is a white sugar solution of 1 part sugar and 3 parts water. It is advised that feeders be changed every three days to avoid fermentation.

Hummingbirds gravitate to environments where they feel comfortable. While predators abound, unnatural predators should not be resident in the garden ie. people who want to catch them, cats or dogs that have not been socialised to ignore the birds.
